The world does not reveal itself equally to everyone. It expands only as far as one's imagination is capable of shaping it.

The exterior is defined by exceptionally thick earthen walls, where each window is deeply recessed to emphasize the wall's mass rather than the glazing itself. A restrained composition of small punched openings limits direct sun while creating carefully framed views from within. Above, a simple rendered chimney is finished with perforated clay blocks that naturally ventilate the flue while echoing the material palette of the roof. A consistent palette of earth, lime, clay, and timber gives the exterior a quiet sense of permanence.

The interior is organized around a courtyard, allowing light and air to move through the home while maintaining a sense of enclosure. A continuous plastered arch spans the ceiling, softening the transition between spaces and drawing the eye toward the landscape beyond.

Built-in seating, lime-plastered walls, exposed timber, and a solid wood dining table create a palette that feels inseparable from the structure itself. The result is a space where natural light, material texture, and proportion become the primary design elements.

From the outside, the simplicity of the composition reveals how carefully each opening has been considered. Large sliding doors are recessed within the thick walls, creating shaded thresholds that blur the line between indoors and outdoors. The rough earthen render, clay roof tiles, timber supports, and stone paving are left largely untreated, allowing each material to weather naturally over time. Rather than relying on added detail, the home creates character through wall thickness, material honesty, and the relationship between solid and void.

The pavilion introduces another place to gather without separating itself from the garden. Full-height sliding glass panels retract completely beneath a deep timber roof, while a suspended steel fireplace anchors the space with a single sculptural gesture. Polished concrete extends uninterrupted beneath low-slung furniture and a monolithic timber coffee table, allowing the landscape to remain an active part of the room. The entire composition feels calibrated around openness.

Walnut millwork establishes the character of the interior. Full-height cabinetry integrates shelving, concealed storage, and a quiet reading alcove, creating a continuous architectural backdrop that carries from one room to the next. Curved timber dining chairs introduce softer silhouettes against the precise geometry of the joinery, while carefully framed openings reveal only portions of the adjoining spaces—leaving every view considered before it unfolds.

Looking closer, the material palette becomes increasingly nuanced. Walnut, leather, blackened steel, and wool each contribute a distinct texture, creating depth through craftsmanship and finish. Continuous wood grain, recessed pulls, and integrated cabinetry allow the millwork to read as a permanent part of the structure rather than freestanding furniture. Together, these details create a quiet backdrop where art, furniture, and material can be appreciated with equal attention.

This project continues our exploration of material honesty and architectural restraint. Natural stone, timber, and textured plaster are composed with measured proportions, allowing light and shadow to become active design elements throughout the home. Every intervention is resolved with the intention of creating environments that feel calm, enduring, and deeply connected to everyday life.
