ISSUE NO. 44
A July Issue

Photography by Mestiz
To lean into identity through self-exploration is to engage in the most ancient of philosophical pursuits: to know thyself. It is not the adoption of a fixed self, but the peeling back of illusions—social masks, inherited beliefs, and external validations—to uncover the quiet, often inconvenient truths that reside beneath.
ARCHITECTURALLY CURIOUS
Clarity, Reflection and Connection

Photography by Marc Sawaya
Tucked behind clay-colored walls in Marrakech’s Palmeraie, Jnane Rumi feels like a secret worth discovering. The architecture slows you down and asks you to look closer. The bathroom stands out first—a rainfall shower framed by a carved, red-painted arch that hangs like a crown. Ornamental, aged, and precise.

Ceiling Rhythm
In the bedroom, the ceiling does most of the talking. Vaulted brickwork fans across the room with the precision of a basket weave—weighty but delicate. The walls are thick and softly textured, shaped to hold light and shadow. Niches cut into the plaster become shelves, ledges, even seats.

Courtyard Calm
The courtyard follows that timeless Moroccan logic: a low fountain at the center, everything arranged around it. Poufs and faded rugs soften the geometry, lanterns hang just where your eye wants them to, and arched doorways frame every view like a still from a film. Each space here feels tuned—designed to slow your pace without ever asking—a quiet kind of exactness.
GLOBAL GLIMPSE
Casas na Areia, Portugal

Photography by Mestiz
Comporta’s landscape is flat, warm, and full of quiet light—and Casas na Areia leans into that silence. Four minimalist houses sit directly on sand, their interiors stripped to the essentials. No flooring, just natural sand beneath your feet, softening every step and blurring the line between indoors and out.

Sand Floors
Walls are smooth and whitewashed, absorbing the warm Alentejo light. The roof? Traditional reed thatch, expertly layered and supported by exposed wooden beams, offering both ventilation and texture. Sand replaces flooring, carried directly into the living spaces—grainy, grounding, and oddly luxurious.
Furnishings are few but intentional—weathered wood tables, woven fiber chairs, linen-covered sofas. The contrast between the crisp white walls and tactile natural elements keeps the space balanced.

The Essentials
Even the transitions are soft: no baseboards, no thresholds, just one material fading into the next. It’s architecture stripped back to its essentials, where texture, temperature, and light do the heavy lifting. Everything feels temporary and timeless all at once.
VISUAL COMFORT
Dandy Collection: Now Available

Photography from Mild Sauce Studio
Now available for order, the Dandy Collection brings sartorial elegance into the home with three signature pieces: the Dandy Sofa, Dandy Lounger, and Laced Ottoman.
Designed with both comfort and character in mind, the collection nods to the expressive flair of the Black Dandy—tailored yet relaxed, refined but never stiff.

Tailor Made
The Dandy Sofa anchors the series in deep navy performance linen with ivory piping and tonal embroidery that moves like a gesture across its frame. The Lounger leans back with soft volume and a sculptural presence, while the Laced Ottoman adds texture and rhythm with hand-finished corded detailing. Each piece is built to live comfortably—grounded, graceful, and quietly bold.
MUSICAL INTERLUDE
What I'm Listening to in July
To regard identity not as a fixed endpoint but as a living question—a continuous dialogue between the inner self and the vast unknown. In this light, self-exploration is a liberating practice: a means of becoming more wholly oneself by dismantling every certainty once mistaken for truth. July’s playlist is available—I’ll see you next week, my friend.
Warmly,
