Board-marked concrete walls frame full-height bronze-toned glazing, while exposed timber beams project beyond the façade to create depth and shelter. Instead of replicating the original brickwork, the new volume sits alongside it, allowing the existing masonry, reclaimed materials, and contemporary construction to remain clearly legible. The relationship between old and new feels defined by construction.

A full-height oak bookcase, complete with a rolling library ladder, transforms an entire wall into a working archive, while a reclaimed-brick hearth extends into a built-in window seat overlooking the garden. Exposed timber joists, deep window reveals, and a freestanding stove reinforce the room's quiet material palette without unnecessary ornament. Every element feels considered, creating a space that supports the rituals of reading, gathering, and everyday living.

The living room is anchored by a continuous wall of oak millwork that combines shelving, concealed storage, and the television into a single built-in element. Above, the exposed concrete ceiling remains uninterrupted, while full-height glazing extends the room directly toward the garden. The sofa's deeply gathered upholstery introduces softness against the crisp joinery, creating a clear contrast between tailored millwork and relaxed furniture. Every material is allowed to retain its own character.

The bedroom relies on proportion and restraint instead of decorative detail. Full-height linen drapery extends beyond the floor, allowing the fabric to puddle naturally and soften the room's otherwise clean lines. A rounded lounge chair, slim brass floor lamp, and thick wool rug introduce texture without disrupting the neutral palette. The result is a space where the furnishings remain secondary to the atmosphere created by light, fabric, and scale.

Floor-to-ceiling oak cabinetry wraps the wall before opening into a recessed niche lined entirely in Woodstone quartzite, with the stone continuing across the back, sides, shelf, and soffit. Rather than applying the stone as a feature panel, it is treated as a carved volume within the millwork, giving the niche greater depth and visual weight. It is a simple detail, that changes how the entire wall is read.

This home explores Mediterranean restraint through proportion, material continuity, and carefully framed moments rather than ornament. Limewashed walls, softly profiled arches, natural stone, and warm timber establish a palette that feels quiet yet deeply tactile, while openings are composed to extend sightlines into planted courtyards and gardens. Custom millwork, sculpted plaster forms, and collected furnishings introduce warmth without interrupting the clarity of the spaces. The result is a home that feels timeless—not through historical imitation, but through disciplined detailing and a deliberate balance between permanence and everyday living.
